Men håll käften då!

Man: Ja.
Tjej 1: Men gör det då!
Hela spårvagnen börjar skratta.

Presents

This week-end I went shopping, Christmas shopping. A little bit on Saturday, a little bit on Sunday, and even a few more presents yesterday. I have almost everything now, except from my mum, but this is generally the most difficult to find...

This morning I found an email from my brother with ideas for him and his two cute sons. Hahaha, too late my friend, I already have everything! Cutie Clément was the first present I bought... in October!

And you: got everything yet or are you more of a "last minute" person?

Good news

Got a really good news yesterday. My friend Maria Elena (or Male) with me on the picture here under is working at Volvo and we've all been quite worried for the past weeks since they announced that they were going to fire people.

Yesterday was the day when they were announcing who gets to stay and who's going. And she's staying, she keeps her job! Oh I was sooooo happy when she told me!

Busy week

Less than 2 weeks now... and time is probably going to pass veeery fast, this week is already fullbooked!

Monday: gym, my last dansstep class ever with Mikael. It feels kind of strange as I have taken this class with him in something like 2,5 years... Can you believe it? Almost every Monday in nearly 3 years? He's not going to have the class after Xmas and therefore I have to find another fun class. Will try Monday-Body Pump, the class just after step, hope the girl is good and inspiring.

Tuesday: maybe a sales for sunglasses with Dior, Cavalli, Chanel, Prada etc between 300 and 500 Swedish crowns (30 to 50 euros), good deal, uh? Let's see if I manage 'cause after that I am invited at a friend's place for a small gathering for her Bday.

Wednesday: meeting 3 friends and we're going to bake lussekatter (did that last year already, with the same friends, check here: http://lorraineinsweden.blogspot.com/2007/12/week-end-illustrated.html)

Thursday: last Italian class of the semester and we may go for a glass of wine after the class

Friday: Christmas dinner with the company

Saturday: Xmas shopping during the day and in the evening... mmmmh looking forward to Saturday evening. And Sunday morning!

Julmarknad

Countdown

The countdown has started yipee!!! In 17 days I am flying back to Fraaaaance!!! My sister and I have started to make a list. Not a wish list for presents but a wish list of everything we want to eat when we're at home. And considering I'm there only 8 days, I think I won't have time for sallads, hahahaha!!!

Another countdown and with a deadline much closer: 3 days or 3 night sleep until Sophie arrives! Hurray!! I've now been living here for more than 4 years and for more than 4 years, Sophie and I have been trying to find dates for her to come here. Sophie is a teacher and so she can't take holidays whenever she wants (yeah she still has a few days off, that's true). Every year in September, we were waiting for a new time schedule for the year and every time: deception, she had classes on Saturdays... But this year! Not only did she get Saturday off but she doesn't have any class on Monday either! So now she is fiiiiinally coming!

Any countdowns for you too? What are you looking forward to?

28 November 2008

Gothenburg goes "La France"

Pendaison de crémaillère or Housewarming or Inflyttningsfest, say it in any language you want but the food is French! The wine too! Hope the guests like it!

Secret lover?

I just received a phone call from a florist. They said they had flowers to deliver me and asked if I'm home around 5. I am not but they can leave the flowers in front of the door, I told them.

So now I am wondering who is buying me flowers??? I have never received any and I think it will be difficult to focus on my job this afternoon.

Aaaah so exciting!!!!

Edit 28th of Nov: the flowers were white so I was quite right but they were sent from the real estate agent who sold me the flat. Really nice from Aleksandra but not that exciting any longer... well, well, I won't complain they're really nice!

Ironi

Directly from home

Yes yes yes! I'm posting from home!!! Here we go again my friends!

So what's been happening to me lately: as you know I have moved and been trying to fix the new flat. It was a bit slow in my opinion but that's not easy when you don't have a car and when you're working all day. But we're making progress and we're getting there.

Left now:
-put up the bar table
-get the last two stools
-put up the mirror and the hat/scarf shelf in the entrance. (had the machine this week-end but didn't get precise information enough from my colleague so I didn't manage... )
-find the lamp covers for my room and the living room
-And mostly, order and get a couch!

And that's more or less it!

Otherwise nothing much lately: working (blah...), training (yay), going out (super yay)! And of yes! My mum was here 2 weeks ago. It was so nice to have her here! We didn't do much because the weather was terrible but just the fact of spending some time, my mother, my sister and me... that was a blast!!! We went to Tjolöholm castle, south of Gothenburg. Had never been there and it was really nice. Apart from that it feels we just ate the whole time haha!!!

07 November 2008

Victoire!

I can! I want! I will! Just give me some Nike shoes and I'll just do it! ;-)

Improvement

Improvement 1: I am writing once a week instead of once every other week if not once a month... hang in there and I may come back to the rythm I had before of a post once every 2-3 days!

Improvement 2: Actually they are more
- I got a hard drive, need to move the pics and music now... will do that this week-end as it may take hours!
-got rid of all the box in the entrance
-got some reeeeeally nice curtains for my room (will put the same in the living room soon)
-saw some nice bar stools, will try to go and buy them this week-end
-unpacked my shoes so I have more to choose from now. Niiiice!!!

Last week-end I didn't do much because my mum was here (it was soooo nice to have her home!!!) but this week-end, I am expecting another big step.

22 October 2008

Home Sweeter and sweeter home

Oh my! Another two weeks... Really need to solve my laptop issues so that I don't give up on Internet every evening... But instead of sitting in front of my laptop I have been quite active and was barely at home. Been training a few times, been wanting to train another times but the schedule didn't work out. Been going out with some friends. Been travelling away one week-end. Been learning Italian. And of course been spending some time on working on my flat.

So far I have:
- electricity: check!
- insurance (even got two until next july): check!
- internet: a temporary mobile one and ordered the definitive one: check!
- home telephone: ordered, check!
- found all the channel on the cable (even the ones we are not paying for!): check!
- put most of my clothes in the cupboards (those that fit at least...): check!
- mounted some furnitures: a bed, a drawer, a bookshelf, a table by the bed
- a washing machine that works and I don't even have to book the time: check!
- some light in my room and the living room (still is the same room): check!

Still need to fix:
- lamps for the lights in my room and the living room
- put a wall so that I don't live in the living room any longer
- a hard drive so that my laptop doens't totally die on me
- put up my bookshelf (the other one is for the living room)
- open some boxes with the radio + cds, the books, the photo albums, etc.
- get rid of the boxes in the entrance
- saw the small shelfs in the bathroom that are a little bit too big
- find a solution for the recycling stuff (right now it's just in the middle of the kitchen...)
- put some blinds and some curtains in my room as well so that my neighbour can't see me sleeping anymore
- empty the last two luggages with clothes (one is half full only with the clothes that need to be ironed actually.... the other ones with big winter pull-overs)
- FIND A SOFFA!!!! The one we had seen and tried to order is not produced any longer so we're back to square one
- put up the bar table and find some bar stools so that we can eat on a proper table instead of on my bed...
- put up the mirror in the entrance
- open the box with my shoes, been living with the same 2 or 3 pairs for a month, can't take it anymore!!

See, there's a few details before I can take pictures and post them here!

Or I can do a before, under and after! :-p

Home Sweet Home

Oh my God! Can't believe I haven't written anything here in more than 2 weeks!!! Time to get a grip and start again... so I start here (at work) although I don't like it. There is still lots to do at home so I haven't started my computer once since we moved and we just got an internet connection this week-end.

Moving went well, I spent the whole Saturday packing two weeks ago and on the Sunday I went to get the little truck I had booked and with the help of my friends, everything was done in under 2 hours!! Then my sister and I cleaned the old flat and left the keys back, the guy thought it was very clean and he was very happy: nice!

On the 1st of October, I went to the bank, signed some papers and got the keys. I am an OWNER, I own my flat, how cool is that?!?!? One of the best thing about that is that the next time I move, it will actually be MY decision and not because someone tells me that I have to. After the bank, I went to Ikea to order the bigger furnitures: beds, kitchen table (a bar table) and a desk for my sister. They were delivered to our house the day after.

This week-end we built our beds (well, finished mine yesterday evening), started unpacking everything, putting away the boxes... I haven't finished yet and most of my clothes are still in the luggages (yes, several of them! :-p) but it's on the right path.

And it already feels very good. It felt like home from the start whereas it normally takes longer than that for me to feel comfortable.

I promise, when it looks decent enough, I'll post pictures. But I'm not sure you want to see all the luggages full of clothes (quite undecent actually thinking that I have so much!) and the boxes everywhere...

Grumbl grumbl!

-electricite, internet, telephone, assurance... changement d'adresse. J'oublie quelque chose?
Youpi hein?
Donc cote planning ca donne:
-mercredi, jeudi, vendredi: demarches administratives
-samedi: cartons
-dimanche: demenagement + menage + rendage des cles
-lundi, mardi: SDF
-samedi: DIRECTION IKEA POUR UNE RAZZIA!!!

09 September 2008

New start

OK Im writing mostly in English lately. Probably 'cause I am not writing that often and therefore I want everybody to follow what's going on. Even if there's nothing much going on. Not yet.

On the 1st of october. 3 weeks, I can't wait to get my news keys, have the moving-part being over. And start a new step of my life. Owner of my own flat, in charge of when and where I want to move. Which won't happen any time soon, let me tell you! That will be my 5th place in less than 3 years. That's a lot right? Well, I know people who had it worse. My friend Brenda lived in 9 different places in 5 years....

A big part of my new step into my new life is the arrival of my little sister. Well, not so little anymore, younger let's say. She's been there more than a week now and it's really nice. Nice to have someone to go home to in the evening, someone to talk to. Especially someone from the family. With family you don't need to talk, you don't need to explain things, they get what you mean. With my brother and my sister we have our own way of communicating, I think most people mustn't get what we say and mean sometimes. Hehe!

Anyway so far, we're sharing only one Internet connection and I have to admit I often let my sister have it... too lazy to be posting here....

What about you? What's happening in your lives lately? Anything new and exciting?

31 August 2008

More pain

Remember this? The competition my sister did last year? Well she did it again. Except that it was 98 instead of 86 kms... Just a slight difference! Imagine, almost 100 km and more than 5600 m of altitude change...

It looked like that this year:

Like last year, my stomach hurt, like last year, I kept pressing the refresh button when she was supposed to pass the several stages and her name hadn't appeared yet. Like last year, I went to bed late and woke up early. Like last year The first thing I did when I woke up was to check if she was still running. And she was! At that point, I knew she was going to finish.

And she did it of course, she finished. In 25h56mn53s. And it was very tough. Out of 2000 people, around 700 gave up, 1/3!!! It was very hot, around 30 degrees and apparently very hard according to the competitors. I think she can be very proud that she finished. And she is she told me.

And I am proud of my little sister. And in around 30 min, I'll be able to give her a biiiig hug and congratulate her. She must have landed by now. The beginning of two years living together, yipee!!!

27 August 2008

Ma prochaine maison

I don't want to put too many pictures of the new flat yet because I feel that the furnitures and decoration are a great deal of how the flat looks like. And right now, and on the pics I got, it is still the flat of the current owner. So when I have moved in, when I have made it my own (well mine and my sister's), when I feel it is MY home and when I have taken some pictures.

THEN, I will put more of them.

But doesn't it have a faaaabulous potential? I already love it. Want to move, want to move, want to move... well the litterally moving part is not the one I am looking forward to but the fact of already living there. Just over a month now...

26 August 2008

Program for this autumn

Lots of things happenings, lots of things to write about:

-new flat

-another nephew on his way (landing some time around the 10th of september, he's still waiting for his did to be on holidays)

21 August 2008

Back in business

OK, time to reveal the results of the quiz. The correct answer was D, a flat!!!

Viriginie, Matthieu and Vickie guessed right; Fanny had the right answer but she already knew, hihi!I'll try to post some pictures this week-end.

Right now I'm back in Gothenburg. Back to the office as well... umpf, I wish I had stayed longer in France. But on the other hand I have finally started training again. I had trained close to nothing during the last month and I was feeling that I was getting all flappy and blah rather than fit. So on the gym level I'm back in business as well. It was tough tonight but when I left the gym after the shower, the weather was really nice after getting only rain since I've come back. Quite warm as well. Mmmmh! Nice!!

And for the blog as well, I'm back in business of course. Will post more often. Lots of things coming ahead, watch out folks!

04 August 2008

How it should be

I'm home. THe French home.
The sun is shining.
I've been swimming in our pool.
My little wonder Clément now knows my name (Yoyen is my name) and is asking for me all the time.
I'm eating French food, I'm drinking wine at every meal (no, not for breakfast!).
There's no alarm clock in the morning and no plans for the days.
Now is the first time I'm connected to the internet since Friday.
My phone hasn't rang once.
God, life is gooooooood!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gotta go folk; my glass is empty, keep guessing on my purchase and see you around!

30 July 2008

Quiz

Some times ago, I announced some changes that would happen in my life. One of these is actually a purchase. But what am I buying? I'll let you guess.

A. a dog
B. a car
C. a new pair of shoes
D. a flat

You have until the 10th of August to play. Come on!

28 July 2008

Summer on Sunday

Summer on Saturday: call 2 friends, grab what's in the fridge, take the tram and head to the lake. That's what I did.

Summer on Sunday: plan a little bit more, take your brand new portable grill given by a nice friend the week before, go shopping for more food, call more friends, take the car, drive South to the coast and Amundön, an island, walk 15 min an you arrive there...

Sun: check!
Temperature in the air: around 30
Temperature in the water: 21 degrees.

And what do you get in the end? An even greater day that the day before if that now was possible.

26 July 2008

Summer!

Today it was around 30 degrees. Really hot! The warmest days of the summer so far I would say. Most of my friends are out of town so they missed it. But Male, Edith and I didn't. We went to Delsjön, one the big lakes near the city. Just take the tram, walk 10 min and you arrive there. Walk a bit further to avoid the crowd and we got to the end of the small peninsula. Peaceful, blue water, blue sky, sunny, warm... perfect! We bathed several time, at first we were thinking a little bit too much 'cause the water must be 19 or 20 degrees, not more... but after that we just dived directly, right technique, even I managed! Some will be surprised 'cause they know how hard it is for me to get into cold water!

So, perfect settings, good food, good friends... perfect day!!!

23 July 2008

Mamma Mia!

God, it's so GREAT!!!!!!!! I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!

End of the week

Haven't blogged in a few days, I know... been busy, hehe!

Thursday, pizza with Emanuela. I live at nr 5 in my street, the pizzeria is at nr 11. And according to her (and I trust the Italian recommendation), it's one of the best pizzeria in town if not the best. They make pizzas with mozzarella instead of cheese, that's how it's supposed to be. If it is so, and it's true, they're really good, can someone explain to me how it is that I've been there only twice in a year?

Friday, Ingeborg arrived from Stockholm and first we had some sushi with her and Manu. Another nice place around the corner. First time this time. Why is it that I am discovering the nice places when I have a few weeks left in the neighborhood? Then, Manu went home and we went to a nice place to have some wine and chat.

Saturday, sleeeeep and then we went to Brenda for a girls brunch. So much food! But so good. So much chat! But so nice! Then we headed to town for a little bit of shopping: suitcase for Manu (she left to Italy today, it was time to get something!), shoes for Ingeborg. And nothing for me, I am happy for the moment, good girl, uh? And slightly broke as well, hehe! Then home and we had a few drinks. Then Manu went home and Mioara arrived with some Indian food. And more chatty chat, Mioara and Ingeborg hadn't met in 3 years, it was Halmstad good old time then. No party either, we were too tired.

Sunday, sleeeeeep, read and nice breakfast. Then Manu & David picked us up with they new rally Aygo car, hihi! Direction: the airport please. We dropped and kept the car, so now I have a car for two weeks, yipee! Then we went to visit a flat but it wasn't nice. Then we went to the city and found Ingeborg shoes. A drink at the trainstation and pfiut! The week-end was over and it was time for Ingeborg to go back to Stockholm! But it was really nice.

The conclusion of this week-end: Thursday Italian, Friday Japanese and Saturday Indian. What about tonight?

Happy Bday!

Big changes

I have quite a lot of stuff going on in my life and there should be some changes for me this autumn. I'm working on raising my social status in a way... and among other things. But I don't want to speak about it now because it's just the beginning of the process.

But it's not about boys and boyfriends if you were wondering. Unfortunately, haha! But it's ok because one of the changes is actually social and involves my little sister. She's joining me here in Göteborg in September to study a Master program. She'll be here for the next two years and it will be amazingly fun!!!

Mon 14 juillet

Challenge

I've been challenged by Audrey to put up here the songs I'm listening to or that I like a lot lately. So here we go, there's no real preference.

Some Swedish first:

Takida - Curly Sue (Sweden)

Amanda Jenssen - Amarula Tree (Sweden, she came 2nd in last year's edition of the Swedish Idol)

This video is a live because the "normal" studio version cannot be embedded but check it out too.

Maia Hirasawa - The worrying kind

It's actually a cover of the song usually performed by The Ark and that represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 in Helsinki.

Robyn - With every heartbeat (Sweden)

Some English and American now:

Estelle - American boy

Sara Bareilles - Love song

Same thing here, video disabled by Sony BMG hence the live edition...

Duffy - Mercy

And the last one is a Swedish one again. Not as recent as the other ones but I still love it. You may know if from the Saab commercial.

Oh Laura - Release me

And two bonuses from this last song: a live and a remix.

Live on a Swedish program, this one gives me goosebumps every time!!!

Remix by "The attic" (Swedish DJ/techno band)

And now, I challenge you
Manny, Vickie and Norore!

New diet

What do you think about the potato diet? I don't know about you but I have a hard time associating potatoes to diet and thinking a potato will make me slim and beautiful... uhmm?

PS: I don't know if you've noticed but the bikini is actually made of the skin of the potato! :-p

Let me introduce you...

Charlotta!!! Nope, not the girl. The pull-over. My new pull-over. 100% Cashmere, mmmmh!!!!

It's from Theory (www.theory.com), a brand from New York I've just discovered and fallen in love with. Audrey, darling, will you take me there when I'm finally managing to cross over the Atlantic?

I knew it!

I don't know when.

Can it get any better?

Guess what, I got some money for buying shoes yesterday!!!!! I

was at H&M and was looking for a pair of shoes I had seen before. I wasn't 100% about them but yesterday they were on sales for 49,50 SEK (around 5 euros) so I just took them. And then, I remembered I had a bonus check for 50 SEK, so the cashier actually gave me some money back! How cool is that?

And just before that, I took 5 pairs to my shoe repair store and tomorrow I will get them back. Some of these pairs have been waiting to be repaired in 2-3-4 months.... oh I'm looking forward to wear them again!!! Right now I'm wearing only flat and it feels strange!

  • lundi: gym
  • mardi: home
  • mercredi: gym
  • jeudi: diner avec 2 copines
  • vendredi: after work
  • samedi: Norvège chez Frank (couchés treeees tard!)
  • dimanche: finale du foot
  • lundi: gym
  • mardi: cinéma pour voir Sex & the City

Zzzzzzzzz!

2nd half

We've not entered into the second half of the year. Half the year is gone, can you believe it? I don't know where the time flew... amazing!

And now the days are getting shorter, that's not cool. Fortunately, we still have a few months of nice weather ahead of us.

My new favourite football team together with the Swedish one. I knew already from the group matches that they would go far. Well I'm happy they went THAT far. =)

Vad trevlig!

Igår var jag där.

Source: http://www.magnusmagnus.se

magnus & magnus. No besvikelse my friends, en riktigt liten oas mitt i stan.

Sen Tranquilo, lite "shake it, shake it" och sen hem kl1. Helt lagom! :)

Ok, of course.

Nationalities Cocktail

The midsummer party was great great great! We arrived around 13:30 and left around 4:00 in the morning. Lots of friends, lots of new people, loooots of food, looots of drink, lots of funny games. A little bit of rain but not too much. Cool!

And a great mix of nationalities as well, look at that:
-Swedish (of course!)
-Mexican
-Spanish
-Columbian
-Turkish
-American
-Romanian
-Italian
- and French given that I was there! :-p

20 June 2008

Midsummer

Today we're celebrating Midsummer or Midsommar in Swedish. But the funny thing thing is that Midsummer is actually tomorrow... today is Midsommarafton or Midsommar's eve. In sweden, they actually pften celebrate the day before like Christmas Eve instead of Christmas day or Valborgsmässoafton instead of Valborg (celebration of the end of winter) for instance. And as they often drink A LOT during these days, they often spend the actual day with a hangover... strange, uh? Well they are strange in many ways these Swedes! Haha!

But anyway, I'm certainly going to have a great time, we're around 45 people and you know me, it will be a multicultural party: many Swedes of course, many Mexicans, Italian, Romanian... maybe other nationalities... and French! :-p

My contribution to the food (2 crumbles, one with berries and especially blueberries and one with apple and cinnamon) are in the oven. Leaving soon. Bye bye!

Shopping expert

My dear friend and victim-but-aware-fashion-victim fashionista Audrey is leaving in NYC and was in Paris a few weeks before me. She ran a "shopping-race" in Paris. Just like I did when I was there. She ran a 100m: 3 hours only, while I ran a marathon, I had 10 days. But both were very successful I would say. Her results are on her blog: read here. And look at my results hereunder:

Some beauty products:
-2 perfumes: Pamplelune by Guerlain (had it for 5 years approx.) and For her by Narciso Rodriguez (new one for me)
-2 body oil from Neutrogena and Le Petit Marseillais
-Make-up remover from Monoprix and day cream from Clarins
-Body scrub and body milk from Guinot
-Lots of shower gel from Bourjois, Roger & Gallet and Le Petit Marseillais
-Shampoo from Le Petit Marseillais as well
-Foundation from Bourjois

Some clothes:
-Pink vest with short arms from Promod
-Striped T-shirt from Promod as well
-3/4 arms pull-over from Zara
-Shorts from H&M
-Vodka t-shirt from my brother (dunno where he got it)

Some underwear because I find it very difficult to find nice ones or good ones so nice-looking good ones, just forget it...
-the one in the middle from Kookai
-the other two from Dim

Same thing with the pyjees as it also fits in the lingerie category... All three are from Etam Lingerie.

Some books, of course!
-the one on the left is in English and a present from my BF Sophie
-the other five are from a collection of small novels I like, Kafka, Neruda, Gandhi...

And some flip-flops from H&M, I had seen them here but they hadn't my size anymore in white...

When I was in Paris the last day, I went shopping with my cousin who lives in London and was here over the week-end. She also bought some small things like make-up remover, tights from Dim (I didn't this time as it is summer, otherwise I do) just like Audrey did. I live in Sweden, my cousin in London, Audrey in NYC... it's not exactly underdevelopped countries and it's more than obvious that one can find cotton pads, shower gel or tights but still... Still, they're not as good as in France and we like to shop them during our short stops. I guess it's a part of being a French "expat"!

Bon anniversaire Chouchou!
