Paris Paris!

Tomorrow I'm going to Paris. In a few hours even, my plane is leaving at 6.30am and my boss is therefore picking me up at 5.15am... tough!

But it's ok 'cause I'm so excited to go to Paris. The last time I was there was in August and then I thought I would not be able to see my friends before Xmas. But when I learnt that there was a fair there at the end of September and that we would go, I was looking forward to it. And when it was decided to go at the end of the week and that I could stay the week-end as well, I was really really happy!! It's like a big bonus for me to see everyone! Well, not everyone... but many. :)

Back on Sunday!

A dream come true

Lu dans Métro (le journal gratuit, suédois by the way...

La Suède, pays moderne

Today is a big day.

Viva Mexico!

Carlos read my blog today and felt guilty, so now I have some videos, hehehe!

So here is what I attended last Saturday, the Mexican celebration of their Independance day. It was in 1810 by the way.

This dance and the costumes are typical from Veracruz:

And for a true Mexican party, you need some Mariacho, so there you go!

There were two other dances, one of which is with other costumes which I looooooved, so colourful, so bright colours, aaaah! love it! You can get a glimpse of some of them at the end of the Mariachi video, but will try to get some pics as well.

The fashion victim is happy! :)

Long time no see...

Tonight, or rather in a few minutes, I am going to meet my friends Carlos and Fernando that are coming here from Halmstad for the week-end. I haven't seen them in more than a year and half now and am really looking forward to it.

Carlos is from Mexico and Fernando from Columbia (The country that "gave" Shakira to the world, as Fernando was telling us proud). I met them in Halmstad when I was organising the introduction week for the exchange students and they were among these new students. We had a lot of fun under these 10 days although I really had the change to know them only afterwards. There was a really cool group that year and we were a bit sad that they had to leave to Germany only after one semester.

They were in a program where they were studying one semester in Sweden, one in Germany, one in Denmark, and for the last one, to write their thesis, they could choose any of these three. Just like Canadian Liz the year before they chose to stay in Denmark and just like her, they had problems with the thesis. Luckily for Liz, she managed to move to Halmstad in the middle of the term and finish her paper almost in time. Didn't go that well for the guys to have to start from scratch and are therefore going to spend the whole semester here in Halmstad.

I won't complain, more opportunities for me to meet them. ;-)

Have to leave you, must fix my make-up, my hair, change clothes, decide which ones, and then jewels and shoes... shouldn't take too long, right? ;-)

9/11

"September 11th, the day that changed the world", such was the name of a documentary that one could see on TV tonight. I believe it's true. EVERYONE on this planet knows what he was doing on september 11th in 2001. As far as I am concerned, I was a trainee at SFR (Vodafone France) as a market manager assistant, it was a part of my studies then. Anyway, the job was in La Défense, Paris' business center (like the City in London) in one of the closest tower to the Arch of La Défense. I was working on the 24th floor and remember receiving a mail from a friend who was then in the US, it was around 14 or 15 pm and it took a while before we understood what was happening. My friend and then roomate Melanie was scared that it could happen in Paris too, but I believed that London would be first if something had to happen outside the States... The whole area was evacuated and we went home. By the time we were finally outside and on the way to take the subway, the people who were working in the lower floors must have been home since at least an hour to an hour and a half... After that, tension cooled down, we practice the evacuation in the following weeks and everything slowly started to go back to normal...

Then, two years later, another mail from another friend, in Sweden this time... On the 11th of September, Anna Lindh was murdered in Stockholm while doing her shopping. Anna Lindh was Minister for Foreign Affairs in Göran Persson's government at the time and was a very appreciated political person. In spite of her high position, she never had a bodyguard with her and on that day, she was shopping at NK, a big department store in the center of Stockholm when she was suddenly stabbed. A man was later arrested, it seems that he was suffering from psycholigical disorders. I was in France at the time, a year after my first stay in Sweden, but I had already been caught by my current country of adoption and I remember feeling a huge sadness. I feel sad for the Swedes, really sad. It was the second time one of their beloved politician was assassinated in the streets of Stockholm after Olof Palme, their Prime Minister, on the 28th of February 1986.

Luckily we won't remember everything that we did on those sad days. Let's hope 9/11 will be the one time that will be enough to remember that these things can happen and that we need to feel for the people who lost someone close.

Escapade in Sthm

Ok, still haven't written about the week-end in Stockholm, it's time now...

Well, it was really nice,I had a great time. I left on friday by car with my friends Henrik & Male (Maria Elena). We talked a lot, slept a little (not Henrik, luckily), ate a little and hop! There we were i Stora Essingen in front of Ingeborg's house. And then it was started, we started talking, hehe... and watch a bit of TV as well.

On Saturday morning, Ingeborg bought some fresh bread across the street and we had a really good breakfast. It was 11 o'clock approximatively. After that we headed downtown for some shopping: what else! Stora Essingen is really great because it's an island a bit outside the usually denominated "center" of Stockholm and it's really green, there are a lot of deers living on the island and you can easily meet one in the morning, happened to me two years ago, the last time I visited Ingeborg actually.... but still, from there, it only taked 15 min by bus to get to the city center (Hötorget).

For the ones you know me, you know the way I feel about shopping, no need to precise... so I had given myself a budget of 1000 sek (around 100€) but the thing is that I was also looking for a present for my dad so I was not looking so much at stuff for girls. And because most of the shops are actually chains or franchise or however it's called, most of what is in Stockholm, you can find it in Göteborg as well, so often I was saying "I'll go and check this again when I'm home". And the result was that, apart from the present, I didn't buy anything for me!!!

On the way home we bought some "lördagsgodis" or Saturday candies that we started eating in the subway and finished together with a glass of wine. In the evening, we went to a good Italian restaurant and drank a really good white wine and good pizza. After that we went to Östermalm (one of the fancy area of Sthm) to the Soap Bar. Great bar and we had fun. Talked to Danish guys first, actually there was one whom I was sooooo convinced that he was French from the way he looked like so I HAD to ask him. Well, so wrong I was, but they were nice and we talked a while. Then some Swedish guys but they were too drunk and focused on one thing only, finding a girl for the night, so we got rid of them quite quickly. Then, we started to be a bit tired but the DJ was soooo good, AAAALL the songs he played were good! You know sometimes you hear 2 or 3 good songs and then 1 or 2 not so good and then it's get better again and it's always like these kinds of ups and downs... well, not this time, not a single B-class song! So we stayed a little bit more and as we were about to leave two guys who had been drinking champagne the whole night invited us for a glass. Can I say no to champagne? Nope... really nice guys. And then taxi and then home and then to bed...

On the day after, we took another good breakfast, talked a little bit more because it still wasn't enought after friday evening and the whole saturday ;-) ... and then H & M picked me up to head back to Gbg.

Really nice week-end, Thank you again Ingeborg! See you soon in Göteborg! =)

Joyeux anniversaire, joyeux anniversaire...

Happy

I'm happy tonight: had a nice day at work, quite relax. Came home to discover that my internet connection was back, yay! Returned some clothes at H&M (yes, it can happen!) which means I am getting money back on my bank account, that's never wrong... good food already cooked from yesterday when I got back from the gym, and now I'm going to bed early... not a perfect day because my step instructor was absent today and his replacement was not half as good as him... but a good one anyway!

BTW: had a great week-end in Stockholm, report tomorrow!
