Champions!

Today it was barely 10 degrees and it was raining quite a lot. And though some people bathed in the Poseidon fountain at the end of Avenyn here in Göteborg. The reason for that? IFK Göteborg, the city's larget football club won Allsvenskan, the Swedish first league championship.

It was the first time after 11 years!

The end of a football season in October, strange you think? Well, it's like that in all the Scandinavian championships and it is because of the weather. Indeed football fields (or how you actually call it) freeze in the winter so that the championship starts in April and ends in October. Read more here about Allsvenskan. This different schedule compared to the other european championships explains why Henrik Larsson was loaned for a few months to Manchester United at the beginning of 2007.

And don't worry for the swimmers, they cleaned the fountain this week and actually warmed the water!
